“100% pass rate for the 31st consecutive year”
“Top school in the Free State”
“Eunice matriculants achieved 454 distinctions”
“97% bachelor pass”
“Top Maths and Science school in the Free State”
“A class average of 75%”
All this can be said about the Matric class of 2016 but it is about so much more than that. The Eunice motto is “She conquers who conquers herself” and listening to the 28 board medallists at Wednesday’s Board Medal Assembly was an uplifting and at the same time, humbling experience.
The “F word” as in FOCUS was mentioned by most if not all of the former Matrics of 2016. Find out what you want and through perseverance, faith in yourself and making use of the opportunities that Eunice offers, challenge yourself every day to do better, work harder and succeed.
Another important message imparted by the 2016 Board Medallists was that your report does not reflect who you are or your worth. It is a result on a page that can be changed, but only by the girls themselves: An important message for the Matric class of 2017 and those who follow in their footsteps.
The Board medallists also paid tribute to their teachers, those who had nurtured and guided them in their final year of school. Eunice teachers always go the extra mile and are ready and willing to help each young lady achieve to their highest potential.
The Board Medal Assembly was an occasion filled with the highs and lows of being in Matric and how to overcome obstacles to write your own destiny and determine the future that you want. The Headmistress of Eunice, Mrs Zinnette de Wet said it best: “Finally, ‘sisters’, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worth of praise, think about these things.”
