Dear Young Lady (Grade 8/2007)
As you enjoy the long-awaited final year of primary school, allow
us, at Eunice, to wish you well both as you make the most of a
memorable year and as you face the all-important decision of a
choice of school for the future.
If you have already made your decision we wish you well. If you are
still open to the idea of an added challenge then apply your mind to
what Eunice can offer you as a young woman in a modern world filled
with new opportunities.
Eunice has for many years attracted quality Afrikaans-speaking girls
eager to develop themselves as skilled communicators in a new South
Africa and in the global village. They bring to our school a
wonderful brand of home-bred discipline, a serious approach to
academics, a strong sense of culture and a willingness to
participate in a full range of varied activities.
So what makes us different in Bloemfontein? Well, firstly, you can
be sure that you will be educated in a dynamic environment where you
will be taught to question critically, to think creatively and to
master technologies.
Secondly, since the emergence of the Department of Education’s Top
School Awards, Eunice has clearly demonstrated that it is in a class
of its own in terms of quality teaching and learning and
consistency. Six successive Eunice matric classes have earned the
Top School Award. Five classes have also attained a more important
honour – the Top Mathematics and Physical Science School Award. No
other Free State school can claim such competence and consistency in
subjects which the world regards as crucial to success in the 21st
century.
Thirdly, Eunice, like Grey, is not simply a local neighbourhood
school. It walks hand in hand with top schools countrywide and
beyond in search of world class standards. Its staff embraces
curriculum renewal confident in the knowledge that it approaches OBE
or FET in Eunice style – doing it our way – not in a style of
confrontation; but with positive energy, with a determination to be
world class, with our girls’ best interests at heart.
There is certainly no need to fear the added challenge of schooling
in English. Our Afrikaans-speakers will testify to the speed at
which they acquire their English language skills, the educational
value of the exercise and their appreciation of the dynamic Eunice
learning environment.
If you would like to know more about Eunice, I suggest you approach
our full time marketers – our girls. Ask a Eunice girl about her
school, speak with her parents, and acquaint yourself with our
spirit.
Eunice is 131 years old in 2006. It is steeped in history,
tradition, a sense of service and a culture of excellence. Its
calendar of activities and opportunities is comprehensive. For me
and our staff Eunice is a way of life. We serve it selflessly in the
knowledge that as teachers we help to shape a better future for our
girls.
Furthermore, my office is always open to you. Please do not hesitate
to visit Eunice for an interview as part of the process of school
selection. We will go out our way to help you make an informed
choice. Please phone Mrs Sharon Nelson for an appointment from 22
July – 12 August.
