Day one 12/01: Eunice adventure begins.
172 girls and 9 staff members participated in this special event this year. Buses drove the Eunice team to the “camp site” in Winkelspruit, Natal South coast. The girls were as always very well-behaved and the staff, a well-oiled machine, made the trip a memorable one.
The aim of this outing is to have as much fun as possible! And where true memories were made was at the Wet and Wild Park – Usaka. After dinner on Saturday evening, we had a “newbie” concert for all first time swimmers, irrespective of grade, and as always, it was hilarious.
This year all the girls who attempted the mile completed in the medal-awarded time (50 minutes).
The bus trip back to Bloem was with a real sense of achievement! All the girls created a bond with friends that will remain in their memories forever…
We can’t wait for Midmar 2017.
The word MIDMAR entails much more than only a 1,6km swim in the Midmar dam if you are part of the Eunice family….
This tradition over the past 20 years has grown into one of the most enjoyable and fun events on the Eunice calendar.
Training for the Midmar starts in the 4th term, with opportunity to train at Eunice during the December holidays.
A fit group of 160 – 180 girls + staff members migrate to KZN annually over the first weekend in February – based in the south coast we enjoy a fun Saturday at U’Shaka and the beach. The last day of this fun weekend starts off with an excited Eunice group participating in the main event of the Midmar Mile and ends off with a pizza-supper stop in Bethlehem on our way home.
All Girls are urged to participate because very few mass participative ultra-events are more accessible than Midmar which gives our girls such a great sense of achievement.
